In this exercise, you will work with your partner. You will need to play your role in the scenarios: Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. In one of these scenarios, you will need to play the employer’s/recruiter’s role, while in the other one, you will be in the shoes of the job candidate.
The two main goals of this exercise are to:
➣ Get the sense of how employers and recruiters think about job candidates,
➣ Polish self-presentation- and negotiation skills.
Please don’t start reading the instruction for Scenario 2 before you finish working on Scenario 1. This task will require some imagination from you, as you might need to imagine yourself in roles and situations that have never happened to you and are not going to in the future. Try to imagine the situation as well as possible nevertheless. It’s a challenging task!
In each scenario, please do the following:
- Read the instruction and think about your strategy (5 min).
- Discuss with your partner and try to reach a consensus (10 min).
- After you wrap up (either by arriving at the final decision or by resigning from further collaboration), please reveal to your partner the motivations and goals you had in this scenario, and discuss together what went right or wrong (5 min).
