You might have noticed that we recently changed our name – twice! Why is that? Well, to answer this question, we need to get into the details of the international Intellectual Property Law. In this episode, I review the basics of the trademark law. What is a trademark and why should you care?

Caolan Kovach-Orr, PhD, earned his PhD in theoretical biology from McGill in 2015. His research was focused on predator-prey interactions. Today, he is an Experienced Director Level data scientist who excels at hiring great people. Currently focused on Machine Learning for Insurance Pricing, solving novel problems, and product creation/development.
He has a proven track record in Team Management (including new & existing hires), Predictive Modeling (Machine Learning – Gradient Boosted Trees, Random Forest, GLM), Creating Actionable Insights, Team Management (including hiring new team members), Feature Engineering, Data Manipulation/Cleansing, New Product Creation, and Research & Development (academic and industry).
There are, in fact, two currencies floating in the job market: value and money. The job market is a complex ecosystem in which value flows through society like water across the globe. To find the sweet spot in the job market where you will best develop yourself, you need to figure out where and how you can produce the most value.
Dr. Alessandro Crimi is an Italian-born researcher turned educator and entrepreneur. He holds a PhD in Medical Imaging from the University of Copenhagen and an MBA in International Healthcare Management from the University of Basel. He alternated formal research in neuroimaging to healthcare-related projects, mostly based in Ghana. Since 2012, he is a Visiting Lecturer of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Ghana. Among his achievements to date, he pulled off a prenatal care project which was using portable ultrasound machines in rural Ghana, and supervised talented PhD students as a part of the program “Women in science for the developing world.”
Currently, he is focused on building two startups:
1. Yawlab, which aims to empower the global South with tools and education about biotech (now registered in Ghana);
2. QC4All, which aims to prepare the global South for the next revolution in quantum computing (in the foundation phase).
Ultimately, the two projects should converge into quantum chemistry simulations.
